Bob's visit to the oncologist

hi everyone

Bob went to see the oncologist today and find out what the treatment plan
will be for his colon cancer.

The news was not great (which I kinda expected cause I read all the reports). He
has stage four colon cancer, which means it has already spread to other areas of his
body, mostly his liver and pelvic area.

The plan is to treat him in the hospital oncology unit with IV infusions for two
days every other week for a total of 12 treatments.  Along the way they will do
blood work and scans as well.

Im trying to be positive for him, this is scary news though and Im worried because
the doctor also said that usually with stage four, they wont even do surgery, but in
his case they had to because of the size of the colon blockage.  This did not sound
good to me, and to be honest Im not sure Bob even took that part of the conversation
in to its full extent.

Ill try and not bore all of you with this too often, but i really needed to talk tonight.
His first treatment will start next Tuesday.

hugs to all in need, i know im not the only one with medical or other issues in my life

Jacki

Jacki, We're here for you. Sometimes it is as hard on the caregiver as the one going through the health issue. Come here to us whenever you feel the need. Sometimes it helps just to let it out and this is a place that you can do that. I know you feel like you have to be strong for your husband. I understand that but sometimes you'll have to find the time and place to let it all out too. Just wanted you to know that I care.

Jackie,

I am soooo sorry that the news was not good. But first, please don't think you are boring anyone. My goodness, please come here and let it out as much as you want or don't want. I can't even imagine what you must be dealing with. You have had a very tough year or even two. So not fair! I am sending you a huge hug and warm healing thoughts not just for Bob but for you too.

I wish we were all near so we could support you in person.

Take care,
Cheryl

Sorry the news isn't good. Stage 4 is very scary. I have been through this with two friends, so I can understand what you are going through somewhat (although I wasn't the caregiver in either case, just a friend).

Whenever you need to talk, please come here and vent. We are here for you always.

Hi jacki,
I know what you are going thru. I went thru it with my dad. He had the same thing 13 years ago. Stage 4 isnt very good but with the treatments they have today and not 13 years ago. Bob will do great. I just know it.
If you need to talk feel free to call me 303 726 1802.

Hi Jacki,

You know James Taylor sang "you've gotta friend"  Well, you have many here.  This is a great place to come to, too laugh, cry, and spill out are guts.  There are so many caring people here.

I hope your husband does well with his treatments.   Miracles happen you know.

Any time you need a "friend"  don't hesitate to PM me.  I know you will be busy but I am here every morning.
Today I got up at 5 and did not sleep well last night.  I will be tired this afternoon.

To everyone and those yet to follow have a great day and smile...

Don't you ever worry about boring us.  We are family.  You need to be able to vent and pour yourself out.  We are the perfect outlet for it.  We are here for your support.  Bob and you will both be in my prayers.

Hugs Jacki,

Your right my friend, you didn't get good news and I just want you to know I'm here for you. PM me if you want to talk more. I know what you are going through.

It's scary and your hubby will take "cues" from you. Your strength is needed now for him. Hang in there, we are here for you.

Most of all please take care of yourself too. The care giver is often forgotten. When the time comes later down the rode for your hubby, hopefully he will choose Palliative Care.

Hugs Jacki...a great big hug!!!

I am so sorry you are going through this, Jacki.  It is a helpless feeling when your dear husband is sick and there is nothing you can do.  Come here, let it out among friends who care, and then you can stay positive for him.  Hope is a magnificent thing.  All the best to you.
